Typical Connections
DIGITAL INPUTS
20 digital inputs, user configured for limit, home, stop,
error or general purpose. May be configured as level or
edge triggered, and to interrupt user program and call
subroutine.
FAST POSITION CAPTURE
The first four of the 20 inputs can be used as position
capture inputs, one per servo axis. The position is
latched within 200 nS of an active edge.
HOME
One per axis, taken from the 20 digital inputs. Provides
reference position for the axis.Three modes of homing:
on encoder index, on switch, on both.
LIMIT
One or two per axis, taken form the 20 digital inputs.
Provides end of travel protection. The response to an
active input can be programmed by the user..
DRIVE ERROR INPUT
One per axis, taken from the 20 digital inputs. Brings
all axes to a crash stop when active. Input sense is
software configurable.
INPUT CHARACTERISTICS
The digital inputs use ac opto-isolators and may be
connected to positive or negative common. (for use
with NPN or PNP outputs). These are arranged as one
bank of eight and one bank of twelve each with a
common rail. With the common rail connected to the
positive voltage the inputs can be driven with NPN
drive transistors or low-side switches. Alternatively
they may be driven with PNP drive transistors or high-
side switches when the common rail is connected to
the low voltage.
